I have been buying my souvlakis at Lambs for many years and have been satisfied until today.
I think it may have been a quiet day (Australia Day) because the lamb rotating on the spit was looking a bit burnt on one end. I ordered the lamb and the proprietor who happened to be working this afternoon cut the meat off in huge chunks without breaking the meat into smaller pieces and cut the lamb partially off the burnt end.
I had a really hard time trying to eat the very large pieces of lamb and had to throw away a fair few burnt pieces.
What a disappointment!!
Ohhhh...the bestt greek food to devour on!
- hearty serving of the soulvaki, you have to go empty tummy to enjoy it fully
- ordered mexican soulvaki, spicy lamp with jalapenos was just right for my taste buds
- the partner had lamb soulvaki! He likes lean meat and unfortunately it wasnt lean! But the taste was top notch
- very casual place, walk in and dine in and get out :)
Easily the best souvlaki on the south side of the river. I go here every chance I get. The tzatziki is full of garlicy goodness and the lamb is fresh and delicious (not fatty like some other restaurants). It's rough, but clean, and despite the guys who run the joint looking like they just stepped out of The Sopranos, they are super friendly and experts in their profession. A must do on any trip down Chapel Street.
