I got an email from a debt collector today. Latrobe Council sent my rates notice to the wrong address..... Their next step upon not getting an invoice paid is not to contact me by phone or email (clearly they just collect those details for the inevitable data leak.) Their next step is to get bikie debt collectors involved. They read out "my" postal address, it wasnt my address. They then admitted they changed computer system and some of the data didnt copy across properly. If people werent paying their rates and you knew your computer system had errors wouldnt your logic next step be to contact that person on the other contact details you have for them. Now they have forwarded my private details to another company. That is the exact same thing as a data breach, there is no reason for another company to have my details when it is their error, not mine.
