Laurent Bakery Pty Ltd

This is probably more a French style patissierie than a cafe, though they aren’t going to object if you simply want to come in here for a coffee. Actually, the huge range of paistries, and the name, sort of gave it away. The staff are pretty cool as well, and it is also open on Sundays, which is a bonus considering the location. However, it is a tad pricey, but then again I shouldn’t be all that surprised.

I really like Laurent Bakery. I was first introduced when it became the sole catering option for any staff meeting at work. Having said this, I can safely say I've tasted most, if not all of the baguette and roll options. My favourite is still the chicken - amazing with walnut addition and the mayonnaise is to die for! Honestly! The great thing about Laurent is you can order half a roll if one is too big and there's never a problem. I also love their baby rolls which are great if you're just after a quick snack. For something sweeter try their chocolate croissants or any of their pasty delights. The pastry melts in your mouth and will have you coming back for more and more. The coffee is a little on the strong side...perhaps a little bitter at times so if this isn't to your liking, I'd suggest ordering a weak version of your normal order - just to be safe. Great atmosphere too and a fantastic spot to meet with clients due to the relaxed set-up.

We just love the quality of the lunch offerings and indulgent cakes and have also enjoyed lunching at the Albert Park and Hawthorn outlets. Staff are always very polite and presentation in the shops is very clean and professional. Service seems to be pretty quick most of the times we have been . Jean

I enjoy the coffee, comfortable seats, alfresco dining, outlook and treats at Laurent, however I usually avoid going there. Unfortunately in my experience the customer service is woeful, and it spoils an otherwise pleasant time. The staff are hostile and uncooperative. Personally I don't think it's a great business plan. I can't put it down to being a "French" thing.
