What is it with Church street these days? It seems the local cafe staff think it is somehow clever or appealing to be offhand, aloof and rude. If you want an illustration of what I mean, I suggest a visit to Laurent. On a recent visit, having been ignored at the counter for ages and served by someone who clearly had better things to be doing, we sat at one of the many uncleared tables. We sat and sat and sat until eventually our food was brought and put down amongst the dirty dishes of the previous customers. When I asked that the table be cleared before our food was served, the waitress snarled at me and put the food down anyway. She then huffed and puffed at the imposition on having to do her job. Unfortunately this is not an isolated experience of bad service in this shop. Thank goodness I haven't come accross this sort of service at other Laurent stores and can still enjoy the great food and naughty french treats without the attitude elsewhere.
