Le Cirque Fine Foods
The exceptional is worth the search.Housed in the bustling Star Crescent, Le Cirque Fine Foods is a gourmet cafe and fine food store like no other in the Docklands precinct. The large alfresco area is invitingly peppered with wicker chairs and umbrellas, while the chocolate-brown interiors give the feeling of a boutique experience, punctuated by the shelves of top-notch products and condiments.
Onto the cafe fare, you'll find traditional hot brekkies including the signature Le Cirque claypot of eggs and bacon on a muffin topped with melted gruyere and Le Cirque's signature tomato sauce. Next up come the "petite bites" like fried whitebait, dolmades and house-made pate maison (chicken liver with brandy, fresh herbs and toasted focaccia), as well as mains like seafood risotto, Atlantic salmon and the soup du jour. Add a latte and you're set.
It’s been quite some years since I was here last due to a not so great dining experience the last time round. On this occasion we were in the area shopping and decided to stop for coffee and cake rather than a meal. The place was fairly busy; a lot of the customers who were dining seem to on a discount voucher or offer of some kind. The service was great, little on the slow side which I can give them some credit for been busy and a weekend. I do like the décor surrounding the restaurant/café which gives it the French ambience that they are trying to create.
I had the chicken parma here and it was terrible. A chicken parma is possibly one of the easiest dish to make yet they couldn't even get it right. It was dry, lacked in flavour and the overly salted chips didn't help either. The serving size was terribly small and the wait was awfully long too. Wouldn't go back and neither would I recommend it.
I was so excited about coming her for lunch today after having a look over their menu and the reviews Ive read. The place is very well presented, they have done a great job in representing a similar touch to Paris. Small tables and chairs, the patterns of furnitures. The displays of the food. I bought my family with me. I ordered the Linguini seafood, my sister the Wagu beef burger, my mother the Atlantic Salmon and my brother opted for the parma and chips. The presentation was great, however lets say 2 out of the 4 dishes were quite disappointing. The parma was quite average, Im uncertain how a simple dish like a parma could go wrong! My linguini was quite poor. The red tomato base sauce seemed like it was poured from a can, which I found bit difficult to eat. Despite the 2 meals not been too great, I have to admit the service we received outweigh this. We had 2 large baby prams with us, the staff was very quick in putting the tables together to ...read more
