I bought a cake for my partner's birthday this weekend past and it looked beautiful. However, when we cut into it, it was a completely different story. There was meringue inside that was dry and powdery, the texture of the cake was also dry and flavourless, the chocolate on the outside was rubbery. The whole thing was inedible! Le Patissier used to have the most gorgeous cakes and chocolates, but it has changed hands and I would advise anyone against buying a cake from there. Only a few mouthfuls were eaten by anyone and most of it was tossed into the bin. AWFUL!
I was visiting this place regularly, once or twice a week, until I arrived at 6:25pm, with a few friends from work for a quick coffee & cake on a cold night.The usual friendly weekend staff were not there and the young girl who came to the counter said "The coffee machine has been cleaned up for the day". The trading hours written clearly on the door say they are open until 7pm, and that means "Open for trade",so that is when they should be cleaning the coffee machines. 6:55pm I could've accepted, but not over half an hour early.
They have really lovely cakes but it seems when the owner isn't around they close early.This was so embarrassing in front of people who I had raved about the place too.
This is the only coffee bar in Neutral Bay with amazing fresh cakes, who are open after work for all of us to go to and we are so disappointed that I am sorry to say we won't be going there again.
