SOMETIMES IT’S A RIP OFF

I was charged for 1hr 13.64mins time to take off a starter motor and replace it with another. That required undoing two fixing bolts and an end of cable bolt, taking off the starter, replacing it, and doing up the bolts. Could be done at tops in 30mins and probably in much less time. Why did it take so long? They are an established company with a good workshop and equipment. The proprietor was not interested in finding out why and only provided a hand written tax invoice when asked for it. The mechanic’s explanation was ‘It was fiddly’. Very Unsatisfactory. I went to fix My Audio Unit and Reverse Camera for my Merc B Class. They had a look at my replacement unit, when i asked for a quote they mentioned it would cost around $400 ish and i agreed to go ahead. One guy started to work on it initially and second person joined him shortly. They both were lovely and good at their work but very slow as they had never worked in similar sort of car by the looks of it. I was next to them helping the whole time and their Boss kept checking every now and then but did not mention or say anything intil the end. Job was not 100% satisfactory. When i went to make the payment the bill was $700+ dollars what a rip off. Excuse was took longer than expected, yes it will take long when some one explores ways to do things instead of doing bang bang for $100 an hour. They say something initially and at the end its the opposite. Very Unfair

We had just started our journey from Canberra with our fairly new caravan when my husband discovered our electric brakes were not working. We took the safest option and pulled into Goulburn where the locals recommended we take the van to Lee and Thomas which was only a couple of streets away.
The van was tested straight away and ended up needing rewiring. The mechanic was very dilligent in getting this done as a priority to allow us to get back on the road. Thanks also to the manager there for allowing this as they were very busy.
