This is more than just an opal shop - more like a tour experience in itself. We loved this place as they were the only opal shop we visited that actually taught you about the opals and were not trying to rip us off. They taught us everything about the opals from the cutting, valuation and how they're mined. We bought some nice jewellery to take back home. Highly recommended.

This is the best opal shop in town. We were looking to buy an opal necklace for my mother for her birthday. We went to almost every shop in town, only to be either ignored (weren't rich looking enough!) or mislead. The staff at Lightning Ridge showed us how to cut and polish opals, and taught us the different types and how they are valued. Extremely friendly, family owned business. The absolute best!!
