Locanda Cucina
My dinner here is less than inspiring. I'm in the eating section of the Rydge's Hotel - but that's not really a problem. The Management greets me pleasantly and shows me to a great booth. Management takes my drink order there and then and leaves a menu for me. After about 15 minutes management returns - I ask where my drink is and says theyâ??ll chase it up. Takes my meal order. About 5 mins later a smiling wait staff appears and asks would I like to see a menu already? - I'm confused - wait staff repeats her question. I tell them I've ordered - oh! okay then! wait staff says brightly and departs. I would've ordered a glass of wine if someone had bothered to ask me. Wait staff reappears with a big black dish in their hand and says nothing, but puts a dinner roll on my side plate with a packet of butter and a tiny pot of yellow granules. I have no idea what these are and they doesn't say a word. Wait staff disappears. After a time wait staff silently appears again ...read more
It takes alot to get a 5 star out of me but dare Locanda you have done it!
Mum and I went here recently as we were seeing a show at the Comedy Theatre and wanted to grab dinner nearby beforehand. Location-wise it's in the perfect vicinity for theatre goers with both the comedy and her majesty's theatres within walking distance.
From the minute we were seated our waitress was lovely and attentive and was even happy to have abit of a chat with us about the show we were seeing that night.
To drink I ordered the Tai Nui Sav Blanc which was amazing and she even brought over the bottle so I could take a photo of the label with my phone to help me find it in ...read more
Excellent food and service. All the waiters and waitresses were well dress and extremely polite. I had one of the best t-bone steaks of my life there.
The prices are a little high but for the area it was very common.
My issue was the use of plastic chairs which were slightly uncomfortable.
The newly renovated bar and restaurant at Rydges Hotel is truly excellent! The food was fantastic at reasonable prices. More importantly, it is very convenient and conducive to disabled/wheelchair access with enough space between tables as well as ramps going to the disabled toilet. The wait staff are also very accommodating, allowing a special request of a drink not included in the menu to be made as per order. The new location is on the first level of the hotel which is very convenient as it is very close to Her Majesty's and Comedy Theatres along Exhibition Street. It's a great place to have dinner before seeing some shows at the said theatres.
