Logan Brae Orchards
Logan Brae is an apple orchard on the Shipley Plateau, 5 minutes from the Blue Mountains town of Blackheath.
Planted in 1919 when the Plateau was an important apple growing area, Logan Brae is now the only remaining orchard and is a sweet reminder of how our fruit used to be grown.
As a Sydney sider I'm a Blue Mountains regular with family and business interests up in the mountains. Logan Brae was one of my favorite spots to take friends and tourists. When I came to the mountains recently with friends and their children I found the owner has now developed an attitude of arrogance to non-locals. He was super polite to the regulars but was abrupt and now equipped with a real attitude to the non-locals. Rather than politely saying he was out of pies being the end of the day - it was an answer with arrogance suggesting that we were ignorant not to know how amazing his pies were that they of course have sold out. All his answers to the non-locals were short and with arrogance. Possibly success has got to their heads. I won't be returning. Sweet products with arrogant attitude = sour taste for customers.
Just 10 minutes from Leura, this quaint, humble apple orchard is a beautiful place to visit. The owner Sam is lovely, and passionate about apples. He often allows photographers to come and take photos for portraits and engagement shoots.

As you stroll through the orchard, you can see colourful birds, cute round baubles of apples adorning the trees.
Sam sells boxes of apples for $13, there are different varieties and he is happy for you to try each variety. The orchard just opened on Saturdays 3 weeks ago, so it is relatively quieter than Sundays (the most popular day). It was a slightly cold day and we thoroughly enjoyed a cup of the spiced apple...
