Have been going here for many years. Last night we ordered the special fried rice, roast pork & veggies, lemon chicken, dim sims and one of their gigantic spring rolls. Wouldn't mind seeing some water chestnuts in with the veggies, but otherwise all food had excellent flavour and is pretty hard to fault. Service was also very prompt and polite!
Appearance of shop exterior and interior is average but quite acceptable. Customer service here is welcoming and friendly. Overall food quality here is consistently excellent. Wide range of Chinese and Malaysian dishes available Staff will greet with a smile and try their best to provide prompt, quick service. This restaurant has a pleasant atmosphere and staff seem genuinely appreciative of your custom. Many menu selections are delicious. The Spring Rolls and Dim Sims are notable for their excellence. Very strong support from a large, loyal group of local customers. Pricing is quite reasonable when compared to competitors in the area. Highly recommended if you enjoy excellent food quality with reasonable pricing and customer service which is of a very pleasing standard.
Just bought take out of schezuan beef tonight and couldn't believe how bad it was. This is normally my favourite chinese restaurant in our area, but for some reason the flavour was terrible (it was ridiculously salty) and the veggies were overcooked and the beef was rock hard. Bizarre. They have been spot on for over 8 years, but tonight was disgraceful. However, the dim sims were awesome (as usual - hence the 1 star)
The food is great, but when you go in to dine the service is horrible. My experience:
I was in here with my 3 children aged 3 5 and 12 and my Husband a few months ago, We were seated and we sat for 20 minutes doing nothing until they came and took our order. Once our order was taken it took over 40 Minutes for the food to arrive to our table and by the end of the night we were the last customers there, while we were eating they told us we had to leave because they had to close up the shop. Not a good time with my toddlers and my hungry 12 year old, NOT TO MENTION my husband.
They look like they have recently renovated, which is a nice change. Thankfully, the dimsims and the springrolls haven't changed - they are still home made and taste great. The springrolls are more like huge Chiko rolls - about three times the size of the Chiko rolls you use to get at the fish and chip shop. I reckon the dimsims are better than the South Melbourne Market ones; they are meatier. The lemon chicken is nice too - it comes breadcrumbed rather than a nasty stodgy deep fried batter you get at other surburban chinese restaurants. The serving sizes are huge, so pretty good value. The veggies in the stir fry still have a bit of crunch to them, which I prefer cos it shows its fresh rather than have them blanched to within an inch of their lives.
