The Rocks is a great place to enjoy a drink and one of our favourites is the Lord Nelson Hotel and Brewery. The historic building is its self is worth visiting, one of Sydneys oldest licensed venues. The atmosphere is relaxed and they have plenty of good beer on tap, the 3 sheets pale ale is a go to. We also like that you can enjoy your drink outside. Plan an outing to the rocks and visit the Lord Nelson.
I love this place, it reminds me of old school British pubs out in rural areas. It is cosy, friendly and welcoming. Everyone else loves this spot too clearly as it is always very busy. The Lord Nelson Hotel is another one of the pubs that considers itself the oldest pub in Sydney.
3) Lord Nelson Brewery (The Rocks): Now this is one really popular hotel because I came in here early on a Friday night and I have to say that it was literally impossible to be able to move anyway. It is probably a good thing that I had a beer here about a year ago because I have to be honest there was no way that I was going to be able to get a quick beer in this place the staff were literally run off their feet. This is also one of the pubs that lays claim to being Sydney's oldest, but apparently it wasn't always on this location. Also, it happens to be a brewery, so you can get a decent offering of house beers here, and you can even see the brewing vats out the back. Mind you, if you do want to try some of the beers, you will really need to get here early because once the crowds descend you are going to be waiting an awful long time.
Extremely busy - had to hover like fruit flies to get a table! But it was worth it! The burger was delish and my chili & crab pasta was really good for pub food! Service is a bit blah, but they all seem so jaded and over dealing with the masses so I can't blame them. Definitely recommend!
