Update: Re "Bargain Priced Car".
Intermittant miss had me searching for the cause--replaced the Camshaft Sensor and the Crankshaft Sensor-($56.00) but no difference.I then replaced the Spark Plug Coils-($115.00) bingo ,found it !
Battery had to be replaced last week.Called RACQ for late night service call .RACQ Tech said it was more than 3 years old.Another $224.00
I replaced the two bumper support brackets - they were crushed-in.
If a bargain sounds too good to be true- it most likely will be.
I think I'd take a bullet to the head than buy from here again.
I bought a "bargain priced" car that was not perfect. Fair enough. Within about 3 weeks after, I had
spent approx $2,500 extra to fix the hidden faults. Engine and trans is fine. Carpet had a possible
vomit stain in rear passenger carpet-Replaced that. LH Headlight had a broken adjuster- I installed a new set of headlights. Carpet underfelt was wet in several places- was replaced with carpet.
"New radio" had a faulty surround-replaced that. Air con/heater control was faulty- I replaced with new heater resister. And a few other other faults- GET THE PICTURE ?
Ethics are suspect here???
Went to look at a car advertised that looked great on site! They showed me another one first after saying all their cars are of a very high standard and they buy from reputable places only etc..got in turned the engine over and car started billowing out with smoke! They said that it hasn't been checked yet? (But they buy the best?) Second car was nice inside but test driving it was terrible and it idled so high it kept nearly stalling! First gear was like started off in third! They blamed my not being used to it as the reason?? Next car they put me in was pretty the same and driving it it was slipping gears and had exhaust fumes filling car not to mention hole in footwell!! Wanted to go but was being polite so they said look at this car and i checked boot first and it was fill of water! They said thats good because it means no rust holes??? I said that sorry I'm going to leave it and they said quite rudely "bye" and walked away. Yes I wanted something around 3.5k but not a death trap.
Went into Lower Cost Cars yesterday looking at a car priced $6999 on the windscreen but when I looked on the website it was $5999. When I asked about the price difference, he blew me off. so in light of the true price, i would like to offer $5000 i say , he then promptly walked away telling me to go look for a $5000 car then. Undeterred by his flat out rudness i then followed him and ask his best offer. $6200 he says, thats $200 over the advertised price i say. This goes back and forth until he offers up the owner to talk to. Progress I think. NO! He then goes on to say that I have said that they are con artist to his boss. Words that at the time never left my mouth but I couldn't have said it better myself!
