Luyu and yum yum has to be one of the cutest names for a restaurant going around. From where it is located on King Street, you wouldn't know it was there. Up a flight of stairs and not well signposted - but my Instagram feed is what got me there. I'd been seeing pictures of cute hedgehog dumplings that I really wanted so went to find this place. Make sure you do too! It is a huge space upstairs, suitable
for a date, family catch up or even a party (which there was one in the back room when I was there). Waitstaff were immediately welcoming and allocated us a seat, took our drink order and promptly brought the drinks out. Lots of beers, wines and cocktails on offer.
The menu is super interesting, a bit pricy to be a regular but great for a special occasion. The food was amazing though, so I guess it's worth it. The first ...read more
The service is excellent here. Always topping up the water glasses and being attentive and advising on dishes that we may like. I had the Rose Black Tea to drink and tasted really nice. The dishes tried were Mr Yumyum Fungi Dumpling (delicious), "Kiss Me" Dumpling (full of flavour and didn't need additional condiments), Manga Dumpling *Hedgehog* (looks cute and tastes better!), 7 Flavoured Tofu (crispy fried tofu which had a delicious crunch and great taste), Asparagus Pancake (great texture), Mr Luyu Veggie Fried Rice (the coriander and mustard seeds made it stand out from other fried rice I've had and really interesting), Moringa Tea Season Vegetable (not that interesting and didn't really taste tea), The Osmanthus Osmosis (delicious and if you love jelly desserts it's a must have!), and Affogelico (tasty chocolate and coffee dessert). All in all this was great surprise to dine and here and more expensive than usual Chinese restaurants but totally worth it.
I've heard a lot about this place and was getting quite a hype. Came here for dinner and honestly did not think much of it. Their signature 'Starburst' dumpling was nothing special apart from the colour of the dumpling, and the filling was mediocre. The only impressive meal I had was the truffle dumplings. It was overpriced for their portion size. Wouldn't be running back here in a hurry.
My girlfriends and I went here last night for one of our friends birthdays and it did not disappoint. We shared a bottle of the Sauvignon and it was so fresh and fruity. The dumplings were really nice, especially the truffle skewers and the seafood dumplings. The starburst were fun, all multi-coloured, however the filling wasn't as impressive as the interior, they were nice but I've had a lot better. The restaurant itself is fit-out really well, simple, dark but modern and luxurious. It was a nice surprise as its so unexpected from the entrance. Would definitely go back here
