Thu 20 Oct 2016 -- this company gets the thumbs up -- Doug the manager checked my vehicle, we agreed on what needed fixing and price, we then agreed on an exact time I brought the car back the knowledgable and nice tradies did the job promptly and efficiently whilst I waited and I was charged at least ten percent LESS than the written quote. many Thanks...Mike Cannon Hill
Over my many years of driving I have used several different mechanics with mixed results. A friend of mine recommended Mackey Electrical & Mechanical at Bulimba, as he had found them to be honest and value for money. As a Female who has minimal mechanical knowledge, I was searching for a reliable and trustworthy mechanic to maintain my car. This was 3 years ago and I haven't looked back. The friendly team at Mackey's have maintained my last 2 cars trouble free and I feel with good value for money. All Services are fixed price and any additional repairs are estimated and emailed or phoned to me prior to commencement of work. They also email photos of my cars faults if there is any doubts. They are professional and courteous. I would recommend them to all who need a good all round mechanical workshop.
I have nothing but praise for the team at Mackey Electrical & Mechanical. They are extremely professional and give great service. I needed a considerable amount of work completed and I was informed at all stages about the work required and the associated costs. It is the best service I have received in all the 44 years of owning vehicles and the various mechanics and dealerships I have used. I would recommend Mackey's to all my family, friends and work colleagues.
DONT Take your vehicle here . Left my car with them who advised and reassured me they would call me within 2 hours with a QUOTE. They called back 2 and a half hours latter prattling on about all the work they have NOT been AUTHORISED to do on my car but had done anyway. They also advised that they have been UNABLE to find anything WRONG with my car. I was slugged $ 152.00 for services that I requested a QUOTE for. I did NOT AUTHORISE Mackey ELECTRICAL to do any work on my car until I new if there was something wrong and if so the cost. I was VERY specific in my instructions to call me with a QUOTE before any work was done.
We are sorry to hear that one of our customers is unhappy as we strive to satisfy everyone. We drove the customer home after they brought their vehicle to us so they had minimal inconvenience. Whilst driving the customer to their residence our workshop manager discussed the vehicle issues and the diagnostic fee. We also prominently display signs showing our diagnostic fees at our customer vehicle check-in counter. We charge for diagnosis as we are not able to ascertain what the related problem is without spending some time assessing the vehicle. The amount charged to the customer was for diagnosis and the cleaning and repair of the electrical control box. All our employees need to be paid for their time working on vehicles whether it is diagnosis and/or repair work.
I had a vehicle with 11 service faults, epb not working (for 18 months as I was afraid of the repair costs quoted by others) and Bluetooth Parrot not working.
I found Doug to be professional, knew how to fix the vehicle, advised me on other problems, had the parts and the equipment needed, sent me photos of my problems before and after and priced exactly as he detailed he would.
I am relieved to have found Mackey Electrical and Mechanical and will be using them again for post-warranty work on my Range Rover and other vehicles.
