At the ripe old age of 24, I decided it was time to actually think about having a will. As in, a 'last will and testament' - a document too important to entrust to the one-size-fits all will kit available over-the-counter from the newsagent. So, I made an appointment with Brian Irving, one of my local solicitors. All in all, the process was fast, simple, and painless on everything but the hip pocket. Upon making an appointment, those aspiring to no longer be intestate are mailed a list of questions that (apparently) help solicitors to write wills. This was the only confusing procedure, as some of the questions about my financial details were difficult, and seemed irrelevant to what I wanted: a hierarchy of who would inherit my estate should I meet an untimely end.
