I wasn't really sure about this place when I first came here because it looked incredibly swish, and when they placed the napkin on my lap when I sat down the first thought that entered my mind was the amount of money that was going to disappear from my bank account at the end of the night. However, my friends from the Classical Literary Bookclub had chosen this place at the last minute to meet up.
As it turned out, it was expensive, but it was certainly worth the time I spent here. The food was absolutely delicious (though a little on the small side) and the atmosphere was what I would expect from a restaurant in Paris (with the exception that the waiters were far from rude, not that the waiters at the restaurants I ate at in Paris were all that rude). My wife and I are frequent visitors of restaurants in Melbourne and we've made an effort to try most of the chef hatted restaurants in town including most of the fine dining restaurants. WOW! Beautiful food, excellent customer service, beautiful venue and appropriate prices.
We were a group of five and no one was dissapointed, we had starters, mains and deserts with red, white and sparkling wine and all was simply devine.
Try french onion soup, calamari, duck confit, risotto, nothing will dissapoint.
We had a wonderful evening here, catching up with friends with gorgeous french meal, nothing can beat that.
My husband and I booked in for dinner lastnight to celebrate our 1 yr wedding anniversary. The staff greeted us with a pinch face, put us in the corner (my husband is 6"5 and had to regrettable ask people around him to move their tables so he could fit his legs under the corner table.) This left us annoyed, as is was a quiet night and plenty of more spacious tables in the restaurant that could have been offered to us. We decided on a lovely chillian tempranillo to accompany our meal - half of the bottle was later poured into the glasses of the table next to us. After a period of time the staff came over and told us that "everything had happened at once" and that we would have to choose another glass of wine off the wine list to which we answered we wanted them to open another bottle of wine and replace the two glasses they had given to the other table. Staff then (with a bout of bad attitude) opened another bottle and poured us a very conservative glass of red. Staff ...read more
