I love the clothes, and can even tolerate the 'boutique' prices (they are unique designs, after all). But the more I visit this store, the more I am becoming aware of the fact that the staff will ALWAYS compliment you on whatever you try on, even if it doesn't suit you. I am a much bigger fan of (diplomatic) honest feedback. As a repeat customer, it gives me more confidence to buy when something really looks good. As it is, I have hestiated and decided against purchases at this store several times, because I just can't decide whether that dress looked good or whether the staff were just saying that!
This little shop down the St Peters end of Newtown has some gorgeous clothing and accessories. I have come across some absolutely beautiful dresses here but they are often around $200-$300 so I rarely buy. I have bought myself a selection of t-shirts from here though and they have generally been good quality and reasonably priced ($30-$50). I did pick up a cardigan once that was $200 and made in China so felt that was less justifiably priced than something handmade here in Australia and a lot of their other garments do seem to be locally made. The staff can be just a tad pushy and have a tendency to persuade you to buy something with lines like this is the only one in that size and its a complete one-off so youll never see someone else walking around in it (I am a sucker for this kind of thing!). This is a great little shop at the tail end of King street - closer to St Peters station than Newtown station - easily identified by their quirky window with the animal heads on their mannequins. This is the part of King Street thats like Newtown used to be: lots of cute local designers and quality cafes.
Stocked with various brands, including their own items, Made590 is full of colourful and unique pieces. This adorable shop always has the most amazing, eye-catching window displays. A great spot for buying unique gifts, as all their products have a strong design element and theres a wide range of t-shirts, bags, plates, wall hangings, vintage items, jewellery, homewares and cards to choose from. They also have an equally cute online store.
