Madeira Restaurant

I came here in part out of curiosity wanting to try Portuguese food. The menu is rich in seafood dishes and skewers and signature sauces. Overall, the food was good and the service was friendly. It's a cosy, unpretentious place in the middle of Brighton. Lots of nice things to try with a glass of wine.

My husband and I love coming here for a hearty meal. Their chicken peri peri is always had to beat, as is their 'espetadas' (meat skewers hanging on a metallic pole). The latter is always a very pleasant experience, served with a generous portion of salad and/or chips. And their wine list is impressive too.

Lamb was good but salmon was like cardboard -really over cooked. Scallops were obviously frozen produce as they were very mushy. Not a good restaurant for fresh food or taste beyond the skewered grilled meat. I won't be going back.
