A friend has taken me to this bowling club regularly over the past year.
It appears to be the most happening place in Hunters Hill every day of the week, including trivia nights, wine tasting, barefoot bowls, fundraisers and competitions.
Although I am in my twenties there is always a mixed crowd ranging from children to octogenarians. There is something for everyone with inside and outside dining, separate bar and pokies, tennis courts, bowls of course and a large grassy area the children end up running around on for hours! There are also functions on almost every weekend, I think this is because the building itself is built in beautiful sandstone as is a lot of Hunters Hill.
Finally, the food. Absolutely delicious. Very large servings, wide variety and great service. I personally love their duck and potato with chilli plum sauce!
Also, you may end up bumping shoulders with the famous, but my lips are sealed.
My friends and i have been dining at Madelines Brasserie since it opened and not once have we ever found the food or service to be poor. The staff have always been nothing but polite and courteous when dealing with us. I am from around the area and a lot of my neighbours, friends and work colleagues dine at the club and have never had a bad experience. I find the food absolutely exquisite. Let's remember, its a bowling club, not a 5 star restaurant. The prices are great and for what you pay and the food is outstanding. I have met the 'chefs' and can only speak kind words about them.
For anyone who is after a relaxing, friendly experience with exceptional food, definitely give Madelines Brasserie a try, you will not regret it :-)
I am not a local, but came to visit my friend and she brought me down to Madelines Brasserie (the restaurant inside this cute little Bowling Club)
I am a chef and I love my food, Madelines did not dissapoint...
They had a varied menu, which was decently priced and the service was absolutly lovely.
I had the Lamb Shanks and OMG absolutley DELICIOUS.. mouth watering delicious.
My friend was equally impressed with her Salmon - I can see why she frequents here often.
Just wanted to say that the food and service were both FANTASTIC and when I'm in the area, I will be back.
My partner a I had lunch here on Tuesday 4th January 2011. I do not know who the chef was or who cooked my meal but it was utterly DISCUSTING. The dish was described on the menu as "Pappadelle with tomatoes, asparagus in a LIGHT cream sauce". $18 later the dish came out. I could not believe that any "chef" or "cook" would present such a revolting mess. The large bowl was literally swimming in cream and cheese so that i could not even see the pasta. There were 2 pieces of diced tomato and a few random little pieces of asparagus. I immediately took it back to the kitchen and asked the waitress(a young girl who couldnt care less) politely, if i could please change my meal for one of a similar value as i was not happy with the creamy soup. I heard her ask the "chef" and i heard a rude male reply, "na, no way". He didnt bother to come out just simply put my pasta into another dish and wiped around the edges!! I could not believe it! I attempted to eat a few ...read more
