Malacca Straits is probably the only Malaysian restaurant in North Sydney that can boast abundant seats, including outdoor seatings to cater for their increasing number of customers, allowing them to soak in the Australian sun whilst enjoying the authentic Malaysian meals.
Their menu range is quite extensive and the food is always thoughtfully prepared. Take your time to browse the menu as there are many food offerings that you can hardly find elsewhere. Keep in mind their specials of the day, such as nasi lemak and crispy chicken hainan-style rice that give even more twists and flavour to the already delicious food.
If you are pressed for time, you can always go for the two choices with rice options from the hot food bar although I am obligated to tell you that you are missing out on the full Malacca Straits experience that I believe everyone should experience at least once.
Located in the south part of North Sydney's CBD, this has been a staple lunchtime destination for many. Offering unique thai / Malaysian fusion dishes from pad thai to chicken laksa, there are lots of outdoor seats available and the service is fast. Once you choose what you want to order from a series of photos, you line up, order and you get a buzzer. After around 10 minutes my chicken hotpot arrived. It was tasty and reminded me of homecooked food. The prices are reasonable with lots under $12.
Worth a try when you are in the North Sydney area.
