Mapo Korean Restaurant
With a focus on fresh ingredients and authentic South Korean cooking, Mapo's exotic flavours combine to make a truly wonderful taste experience. The history of Korean cuisine can be traced back through the twisting myths and mystical legends of antiquity that journey through the centuries of social and political change. Highly influenced by Chinese culture and regional interaction, the history of Korean cuisine is one of evolution and adaption.
Founder of the Mapo Korean Restaurant and executive Chef Chung Jae Lee has created this menu from thousands of food ideas that have been steamed, stirred and styled inside Mapo's kitchen over the last seven years. From the celebrated tradition of kimchi and dullsot bibmbap to the unique creations of coffee infused pork ribs and crying tiger wagyu, each dish reflects Mapo Korean Restaurant's unique fusion of Korean and western ideologies where east meets west with a focus for local, organic produce.
We have now opened the Mapo Lounge bar, so feel free to try it out for pre dinner drinks, after dinner drinks or just relax with friends.
We look forward to your visit to the Mapo Korean Restaurant.

I would like to say that the food that was served to me at Mapo Korean Restaurant was nothing but excellent. We had the tasting menu which consisted of seven small courses, all off which sent your taste buds off in culinary delight. The seared scallops and prawns with truffle oil were to die for. The dried squid ball was a dish I had never had before and I will have it again. A round ball of dried caramelized squid that reminded me of the last of the onions that are left on the BBQ, you know when they are sweet and slightly crunchy...So yum.. I could keep going with every course as like I said it was all to die for and served like any Master Chef would serve, with love and ...read more
I returned after several years looking forward to some Korean food. The atmosphere is still the same, the service remains excellent however, a look at the menu told me things had in fact changed. Not a lot of traditional menu items - fusion? Several items have an overwhelming taste of olive oil which is not expected. However, putting aside the fact that you're in a Korean restaurant the scallops were delicious. The money bags were also good. The traditional bibimbob was the winner of the night.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Adelaide. The food is amazing, definately recommend the ribs they just melt in your mouth. There is an area for those that want an intimate meal, without being bothered by the bigger tables. The staff are very accommodating and helpful with any questions or recommendations. oh and the desserts - the best chocolate cake ever!!
First time going here a few weeks ago and it was a pleasant night. The meals were different from the usual Asian foods Ive had around gouger street but there was no surprise there I guess being its an Award Winning Restaurant and fine-dining. A friend ordered the crying tiger wagyu beef for a main and that was delicious, the way they executed the dish was different, all the flavors blended in your mouth (I know because I had a taste) and the beef was so tender. The Dullsot bibimbap (stone bowl) was enjoyable as well, never had it before but I really liked it. Was so full after Entrees and Mains that we didnt order dessert (instead decided to get Gelatissimo), so I definitely would love to come back again and have the dullsot and order a dessert. Excellent Service, Delicious Food, Lovely Decor, Great Location.. Definitly recommend to try this place if you already havent.
