Our family did not have a quality experience at this restaurant and advised staff this about several issues on several occasions throughout the evening. Issues were only addressed with a simple sorry and then lame excuses. Even when we advised that the mushroom cream sauce was way too sweet, we were told they did this to please the children... there were no children eating at our table... we were then told to add chilli to it, we don’t eat chilli... oh dear, we had expected the mushroom sauce to be a savoury sauce, but it was just so so sweet. Terrible tasting pasta and sauces. Our garlic pizza was covered with cheese but none of us could not taste any garlic, and we were told it is garlic pizza of course there is garlic on it... clearly not though, an oversight? Maybe. Overall our experience was bad tasting food, poor service and also saw cockcoaches crawling on the walls. Oh and their toilet needs a very good clean. Overall a very bad experience. Very disappointed.
During a recent stay in Port a week before the Easter long weekend, we decided after a week of dining out daily at various establishment's, with sometimes disappointing service, overpriced and pretty ordinary meals, that tonight we just felt like having a night in and ordering pizza.
We just wanted normal traditional pizza, looking at various menus we had on hand, we found we could mainly only find over priced gourmet pizzas with strange toppings, one restaurant even offering broccoli and mashed potato on top, yuk!, And of course the usual chain store pizzas.
I decided to take a walk up the road and found The Pasta Place, and so decided to take a punt and order take away.
I was greeted by a cheerful and pleasant young man who took my order and recommended the half and half pizzas, so I ordered three of various toppings ...read more
We dined at Margaret & Sons recently. We would not go there again. I ordered the early bird special. The service was strange but the food was something else. The garlic bread was a good indicator of what we would receive. Stale bread with a vague smear of garlic butter. My main arrived, tortellini in a 'napoli' sauce with a side salad. I said to my husband, the dressing tastes like 'Kraft's Lite Italian restaurant' and the sauce like Dolmio. His verdict on the spaghetti bolognaise was it tasted like a ready meal. I saw one of the waiters decanting the homemade dressing and noticed it was indeed a large container of Kraft Lite Italian dressing. I was v. tempted to ask to see inside the larder to see whether I was right about the Dolmio or not. Everything tasted like something you buy at a supermarket. It was very disappointing although on a plus side, my son loved the decor and the atmosphere seemed happy.
Eight of us went for a meal about one month ago We ordered entrees and a main meal each. The meals were prepared and served in adequate time, but the quality of the food was very inadequate. We ordered some pasta dishes and flounder fish dishes. The fish meals were tasteless and watery and the pasta dishes were just frozen packet stuff. We would have been better off buying the same food from the frozen section of the supermarket and cooking it ourselves. There were three (3) separate families who went that night and we would never go back. All the meals were appalling. Would not recommend this place if you are looking for a good quality home cooked meal.
The waitperson took our order for our meals and drinks. We never received our drinks. The waitperson then took an order from a group of diners who came to the restaurant after us. They received their drinks straight away. I told another waitperson that we hadn't received our drinks. She said she would get them for us. Eventually the first waitperson brought our drinks out to us. My partner ordered chips and vegetables with his meal. When our meals eventually came out my partner received a bowl of overcooked, pale-looking vegetables. He did not receive his chips. The food didn't taste very good. This bad meal somewhat spoiled what was a good holiday away.
