This is a very upmarket establishment in an elegant setting serving stylishly-presented beautifully-cooked food. It is very expensive however and this should be kept in mind. Some menu items are not good value eg the seafood platter, (over $200 for two people)
There are plenty of grilled dishes for non-seafood lovers also. Wonderful staff could not have been more helpful.
For a restaurant which was rated #1 on Hamilton Island by a few websites we had high expectations. The restaurant was hot, the staff were in training (which is not so bad if they have an experienced staff member to help), the food was pretentious and over priced. We shared the seafood platter for $220, DO NOT DO THIS! It was very average combination of fried and cold seafood. The cray was undercooked and very salty, while the other shellfish was over cooked and also far too salty. The sashimi was pleasant but a very small serve and we expected more than six oysters and six prawns for the price. Maybe we should have gone with one of the specials which looked far more reasonable ($40) and left it at that! The staff did not even ask if we had enjoyed our meal and seemed in a hurry for us to 'get through' the dish. I would definetly recommend Bommie restaurant for a better dining experience.
We had a private function at Mariners last week where there were about 100 people. The food was delicious and there was a lot of it, and the staff were attentive and professional. We were really impressed by Mariners and wouldn't hesitate in going back there when we're next in Hamilton Island.
