Thanks to Gulten and the crew at Marino Rocks Cafe Restaurant, where we hosted this years work Christmas lunch (10 people). Gulten was fantastic assisting with pre-arrangements and recommending menu's etc. for the day. The food from entree through to dessert was superb, of a high quality, presented well, served well and without delays. Obviously very well organised. 10 out 10 from 10 people - you can't beat that! Cost was not an issue, in fact we thought it was incredibly low for the quality we received. Nobody was short of a drink for the duration with waiting staff being extremely attentive. The location was also superb on a warm, sunny Friday overlooking the beautiful SA coastline - you couldn't help dreaming of your next Mediterranean holiday whilst enjoying your meal. And it is right here in beautiful Adelaide. Location is also in a quiet area away from the hustle and bustle and worries of life - you start to relax as soon as you arrive. 6 of us dined here last night. The staff & service were good. Very attentive. My complaint is the ammount of food, you get for your dollars. I ordered Pernod Prawns (around $28) as a main. There was a large ammount of Rice served with the dish. And a lot of pernod sauce. And 6 medium to small Prawns. End of meal, I was still hungry. So I ordered an Ice Cream Sundae. $10 for a couple of scoops of ice cream and a drizzle of Chocolate Sauce. Two of the other diners, that were with me, had Atlantic Salmon. Which they also enjoyed. But they also needed dessert. If the mains prices were maybe a bit lower, then I would not have minded ordering a side of salad or vegetables. Must admit, the views are stunning.
Went here for dinner tonight with the misses, she had some chicken dish was eas terrible and very small .the chicken was raw. Couldnt eat it. I had the seafood platter. 1 small fillet of fish about 3 prawns and a few bits of calamari on top of chips with tartare sauce that came straite from the super market. The prawns tadted like nothing as if theyde been frozen for the last 6 months. The fish was ok and the calamari ok. Paid $29 for the seafood meal. Could have got a lot better in a box down the fish n chip shop for $8. overpriced for what you get. Infact we would never go there again or pay a cent to eat that crap. Very dissapointed would never go back and would warn other to NOT go here.
My family has been coming to this exquisite little cafe for 2 years now, it's a very special place with very special people running it. Gulten goes above and beyond to accommodate our requests with sincere kindness. The views over the ocean with sunset included can be spectacular but it is not "Location" that makes a cafe/restaurant great; it's all about staff, food & service. The staff at Merino Rocks Cafe are welcoming and genuine. The food is always (every single time) incredible and the service is timed beautifully and ever attentive. We are so excited to be spending Mothers Day there this year and look forward to enjoying the ambience and laughter. I hope they never change a thing, it's perfect the way it is xoxo
