Last night we took a friend from New York out for his first ever dinner at the Gold Coast and we were so disappointed at the overall experience. We enjoyed the food, however, many things happened during the evening which were embarrassing. We were delivered the wrong drinks then the wrong meals. When our cocktails finally arrived they were the worst we've ever tasted, overpriced and three quarters ice!! Our meals arrived at different times which was not ideal. Fortunately we checked the bill only to discover it was the wrong one. The staff's response to this was rude and unbelievable. The bill we received was meant for diners who'd already left and was considerably more than ours. We we treated as though it was our fault and the attitude of the previously very friendly waitress changed drastically!!! We have been taking GC visitors to Mario's for many years and we have always experienced great service and delicious food. It's so consistently good here that we had our family party to celebrate our daughter's 18th and were able to bring our own wine and cake. Outstanding in every way and centrally located if you have visitors staying at Broadbeach.
I have personally been going to Mario's for years but since the new management the service and food have really gone down hill. I took a guest from Canada there last night and was extremely embarrassed the service disgusting and the staff thought it was funny when we complained !! It took them 45 minutes for one of the drinks to get to our table then we waited at least another 15 for the other drinks to arrive. The food was very ordinary the schnitzel dry and the veal with prawns very lacking !!! Will not return don't waste your money.....
Lovely Italian and surprisingly, lots of gluten free options, including the pasta.
The bugs were spectacular and thee oysters a hit. Service good and meals well priced with options of entree or main size.
Seating is a bit squishy and chairs not so comfy but a nice night out.
