We too had an awful experience today ( overpriced, undersized servings, meals forgotten etc ) - and there was only TWO tables to wait!! How could they not notice we'd been waiting forever because they forgot to put the docket in? No-one asked how our meals were and the manager was more interested in chatting with besties on the other table ( and snacking from their plates ) than to ask how our meals were ( when they arrived ), to apologise, or even to make eye contact. Horrible. No discount, no offer of a complimentary beverage, nothing. No-one cared, and the meals, when they did arrive, were awful.
Used to eat here 2yrs ago a lot. Now I know why it's always empty these days :/
I went for brunch at Marlo's today with my husband. His coffee was burnt, too hot and bitter - he was unable to drink it even with two sugars (he was a barista for many years, so he knows his coffee). I ordered the breakfast bruschetta - the marscapone was bland, strawberries were good, but the fruit toast was stale and not toasted. I didn't eat my breakfast at all and he left his coffee, yet we were still expected to pay for everything even though they asked us if anything was wrong. Don't normally like to complain, but was just really annoyed by the lack of follow up and poor standards.
We are breakfast regulars at Marlo's. The menu is full of your favourites, serving sizes are generous and without garnish and the staff are friendly. Enough space to park a pram. Coffee is very hit or miss depending on who makes it so we've taken to ordering hot chocolates instead (which are lovely every time).
Since posting the above review, the coffee has improved sunstantially and we now happily order all types of coffee. I'll also add the the owner has been wonderful in accommodating our mothers group on a few occasions - even when that means ten chatty ladies, and their babies, and their prams!
