Mary Mackillop Place

Mary MacKillop Place encompasses several things, there's a beautiful chapel, a museum, a gift shop and a coffee shop. It's worth a visit, for many reasons. Even if you are not religious, a visit here will teach you about Australia's first saint, her early life and the incredible work she did under harsh conditions. Beautiful chapel available for services such as weddings and baptism. All set in pretty grounds so close to the buzz of North Sydney, yet you don't hear any noise. Mount St is a pretty tree-lined street, with parking meters. Finish up with a coffee in the sweet cafe, and pick up gifts with a difference, I think many are hand made in Peru, and the money all goes to good causes. I bought the lovely rose that has been bred to honour Mary MacKillop and I gave it to a friend to plant, after he lost his mum, so, even hard-to-buy-for men are catered for with this unique, ever-lasting gift.
