Massive Wieners
Massive Wieners is a hot dog stand specialising in foot-long hot dogs, fries & shakes. For a bit of Trivia, we're also home to the world's longest wiener at 25 inches of deliciousness!
I went here on a date night with my boyfriend on a gloomy winter's Friday night. The store itself is really non-descript, but always draws a crowd, so, looking for a cheap bite we stopped in here to get our fill of hot dogs and poutine fries.
There's not much detail on the menu, but our super friendly server was more than happy to help us with what size dog and sides to order. With a variety of sauces/ toppings and drinks in the fridge, this delivered exactly what we needed.
Walls of Fame and Shame adorn the walls with the quickest scoffing time for your dogs, but we happily sat and enoyed each others company without being rushed out.
Overall - a great cheap eat and non-pretentious place for your date!
Stumbled across this place on a tuesday night. heading to a conference and didn't have time for dinner. What caught my attention was the dogs, fries and shakes sign that was lit up. Walking into the store wasn't an eye catcher and i was about to walk away. It was dull, gloomy and looked like it needed work. There was no-one serving but there was a bell in which i pressed to get the waiters attention. When the waiter walked out, he was dressed to suit the theme, 60's classic diner. The menu was quite confusing and the waiter was happy to assist. Basically the hot dogs comes in different sizes and flavours. Given i didn't have much time before heading into the conference i grabbed a small hot dog and a small serving of fries. It took quite awhile to come out. I had to ask them 2 times when my order was ready. There was only the waiter himself in the back kitchen, hence the reason for the bell service. When my order came, the hotdog was literally small, ...read more
I was in chapel street recently last weekend and was looking for a place to have a quick bite to eat without having to wait long. I recalled coming here quite some years ago when they were actually located on Greville Street and remember the hot dogs to be fantastic. I was starving and was also in a hurry to get somewhere, and the fellow suggested the Kraut hot dogs which was an old time favorite, so ordered the 3" with medium size chips. The wait was a fair bit, almost little over 10 minutes; there were few other diners there at the time. I was fascinated by the pictures they had on the wall of the many many people who had managed to eat the large size hot dog in less than minutes to get their shots on the picture. When they had called my order I was so excited as latterly starving by then. I thought they had made a mistake; it was this tiny 3" burger with the smallest hot dog inside. I couldnt believe I paid $5 for this, but only than realize it was my ...read more
As the staff at Massive Wieners will tell you, there are some times only a 12" wiener will do. Although I'm not much of a hot-dog fan the venue is filled with quirky retro charm and delightful staff. It's a trendy buzzing nightspot near all the nightlife in Prahran and nearby Chapel St and open late quite often. It's not haute cuisine, so abandon all pretensions as you enter but if you feel a sudden yearning for a Mexican Coke or a really evil milkshake, this could be the place for you!
