We've been here a numerous occasions to dine as a couple, as a large group, for functions. The food is well priced. The highlight of this restaurant is the how the crabs are prepared, there are many options to select from and the prices are quite reasonable compared to others around town. Depending on season, you may be paying somewhere from $13 to $16 a pound.
I have eaten here a number of times with my family. The food is always good here and very well priced. Although they were extremely busy on my last visit, they still catered for us really well. We brought a birthday cake along and they kept it in the fridge for us, and even offered to serve it for us when we were cutting the cut.
Decor is like any typical restaurant in Footscray, not the best looking, but the food definitely makes up for it.
Sitting in Master Restaurant & looking back onto the street scape that is Footscray near the Footscray market, one could be forgiven for thinking you're a world away on an Asian holiday. This place seems authentic. I went with my family & unfortunately, when it came to the Yum Cha, opinions were split. Most specials that adorn the walls are only written in Chinese. They have the obligatory fish tank at the front with live seafood for those wanting some extra fresh fare. It's close proximity to the market likely ensures that all menu options are quite fresh. I found the food tasty, well textured, with a wide variety available on frequent trolleys. My wife on the other hand found the offerings overly meaty (she is a reformed vegetarian). This is the new kid on the block as far as the flashier type of Chinese restaurant in Footscray goes. That is to say it is a new place with the type of decor intended to appeal mainly to Chinese customers looking for something a little bit posh with trained chefs - the decor is modern Chinese style, quite warm and welcoming ambience, woody and warm. It's special enough for a special occasion, such as a birthday dinner, but most dishes are inexpensive (below $20). It looks much more expensive than it is. Competing mainly with the long-established and very popular Golden Harvest nearby, after six most nights you would be lucky to get a table - it is packed with Chinese, and it is a fairly busy space.
