After a day of 'confereing' at Yering Station we wandered over to the cellar door, Max's Bar to be precise and we enjoyed some wine tasting and eductaion from the resident wine maker. A really enjoyable hour of fun and of course terrific wine tasting was enjoyed by all.....the Vintage Shiraz was a personal favorite.
Recently went to Yering station for wine tasting and lunch on a Sunday afternoon. The food was absolutely delicious with a great selection and beautiful presentation. I had the Pork Belly which was cooked to perfection. I will say that I was not disappointed with the service by the head waiter. We notified the restaurant that our initial booking of 8 had changed to 9 and arrived to find that the booking change had not been actioned. They left us at the couches for nearly 45 minutes while they slowly modified the table to suit our number of guests. At no time did the waiter apologise for the inconvenience and was quite rude when he insinuated we had not updated the booking to the reflect the larger group. I find this unacceptable especially when I was the one who rang and personally spoke to someone at Yering Station. Apart from the initial problem on arrival, everything else was wonderful and I would have no hesitation recommending it.
I like this place - I always feel like I've discovered some type of hidden gem in the valley - whilst people are milling around downstairs the people in the know are upstairs at Matt's bar, glass of wine in one hand and some French cheese in the other. Go for the good coffee, cheese platter (which changes daily), glass of local vino and chill out whilst overlooking the Valley. A great way to finish the day after dining at a local restaurant or a good stop off for those on a budget.
