Such a disappointment - Have previously had an enjoyable lunch here so decided to try again. Was seated next to a couple who were obviously good friends with owners who engaged in a long conversation almost on top of us with no respect for our space whatsoever. Entree of duck pate was lovely. Listened to the description of twice baked pork belly which we ordered as it was meant to be divine. No crackling and unrendered fat that covered 2/3 of the plate with equally undercooked roast parsnips. Other meal was roast chicken with breast meat that was inedibly dry and overcooked. On receiving feedback staff offered token apologies and then provided a bill which included a 10% surcharge simply because it was a Saturday and then additional surcharge for paying with MasterCard. Overall, a very disappointing and overpriced experience.
What can I say!? Mavis' Kitchen & Cabins is truly wonderful. Hidden away in the mountains near Uki, Mt Warning are lovely cosy, little cabins to stay in, or prepare for your wedding at this little slice of paradise. Staff are friendly, welcoming, and accommodating to your needs. I attended a wedding here a few weeks back, and everything was just amazing. The location, the staff, the reception room, and... the food! The food was fabulous!! The drinks, hors duervres, entree, mains & dessert, perfect! The owners pride themselves on using home-grown and local produce. Mavis' Kitchen is also open for lunch and dinner at certain times during the week. Wander the grounds or around the huge pond, sit under the trees, and relax. It's wonderful.
