It ain't pretty, but it's good. Maxi Foods supermarket is seriously under-rated. It's a bit tired, and in desperate need of a face lift - but the grocery range is amazing. It has a great range of well-known brands, but also a range of local and boutique products, such as gourmet hard-boiled candy made by a small company in Prahran, jams and chutneys made in Beechworth, and numerous brands of free-range and biodymanic meat. All that in addition to the usual everyday brand names. As a bonus, the fruit and veg looks nice and fresh. Maxi Foods is owned by the same company that runs the better-known Leo's in Kew.
