Mediation Services - Family Dispute Resolution (FDR) offers an affordable and timely mediation service for families looking to achieve manageable contact arrangements in the form of a parenting plan. FDR is a process that can help people affected by separation and divorce sort out their dispute as an alternative to going to court. A family dispute resolution practitioner is an independent person who can help people discuss issues, look at options and work out how best to reach agreement in disputes about children.

FDR is a process that can help people affected by separation and divorce sort out their dispute as an alternative to going to court. A family dispute resolution practitioner is an independent person who can help people discuss issues, look at options and work out how best to reach agreement in disputes about children.

Each FDR requires both parties to have an Intake Session with the practitioner, this generally takes 45 minutes, after which an assessment is conducted to decide whether FDR is to go ahead. Intake is an opportunity to discuss what you would like to talk about at FDR and any concerns you may have. Section 60i Certificates may be issued at this time.

After a positive assessment, both parties will be contacted and a date and time organised to come together for FDR. FDR can be organised within two weeks of the initial contact if both parties agree. The practitioner will inform both parties of the process of the session. FDR generally takes three hours with clear boundaries being set to support both parties having an equal opportunity to discuss and be heard.
