What other government department would you call that has an average waiting time of less than 10 minutes (often much less from my experience)? And the staff at the call centre have always been helpful. I'm equally amazed by the way this department has taken up technology to make life easier with online claiming and even a smartphone app to keep your medicare card on your phone & update anything there too.
On the negative side their offices can have much longer waiting times & with them only being open 'regular' business hours I'm not sure what I'd do if I had to visit an office.
The Medicare staff may be so nice and helpful but otherwise the service is appaulingly bad. A user-friendly service at my local chemist has now been closed down. I have tried claiming benefits on line and have given up - I am now back to the process of filling out a form and posting it. I cant find claim forms on the Medicare Website - I had to get a copy from my doctor and scan these into my computer for later printing. I cant get my tax statement because the medicare link for this service does not work. I cant get thru by phone because I am told to call later due to clogged lines. I would like to know just what is going on at Medicare.
