Meikle Ocean View Bistro

Decent pub-style food with fabulous views of Bass Strait. Service is a bit slow, it's a bit dated in outlook and the seating can feel a bit cramped but the views are spectacilar, especially if there is a beautiful sunset. We came purely on a whim and were delighted we decided to stay.

Lovely location - window tables are just delightful with a beautiful view of the ocean. Not a whole lot of seating though, so book ahead for the busy nights. Menu consists of all the pub favourites.

I was recommended to eat here and it was lovely. it was a family gathering for my birthday.

Food was incredibly tasty and heaps of it....will be back again!

Only problem was the seating was tight.

My experience at Meikles bistro is nothing more than outstanding.

WE visted the Gippsland area in summer and on a whim we stopped at the hotel. The bistro, while a bit tired in decor was warm and inviting, the staff very friendly and the menu had a very good variety. We had the Veal on special and my husband is still talking about it. All the food was amazing and very filling.

The waitresses at the time were very busy as the balcony was full of customers, so i can't blame them for overlooking a few things. They were however very friendly and professional.

We even caught the sunset in bright pink....topped off our adventure around the coast.

Really, a small trivial thing like a "lost booking" is nothing compared to the meal and the location.

We have been here a number of times , mainly because the setting and the views are delightful !! We have never had a bad meal here , and you would rate it as normal pub food . But the service is just Slack !!! Wait for ever at the bar , have to chase down menu's , bookings lost, staffs never ever ever ask if you would like to order coffee or desert !! Just little things that you could forgive if it happened once but not the 4th and 5 th time !!

Good staff can change a place from ok to exceptional !
