I have been going to Melb auto for 4 years now and wouldn't trust anyone else with my car! The boys there are knowledgable and very efficient with fixing your car as soon as they can and going above and beyond with anything and eveything needed. Definitely recommending to all my family and friends
Worst experience I've encountered. Went in for minor issues... had my engine cover removed on my Land Rover Discovery 2 TD5 that was not replaced. To be fair he ordered a second hand one, however, with no screws to attach the cover... so it sits in my garage. Furthermore, I've recently gone to locate my spare wheel kit and found that it has also not been replaced. This includes the key to remove the locknut so I'm unable to change my wheel until I purchase a new one. I will be going through consumer affairs to deal with the issue as I found the personal dealings with the manager to be uncomfortable, unhelpful and dismissive.
I do not recommend this workshop.
I was very disappointed to learn that the $300+ of work completed on my car, as advised by Robert (owner), was completely unnecessary and unrelated to the issue - as diagnosed and assessed by a second RACV accredited mechanic, and with the proof in the pudding as I was able to drive the car after leaving this second mechanic, something that did not happen on leaving Melbourne Auto Works.
I will be following this up with the RACV as the mechanical advice provided to me by Robert was not sound and unprofessional. The work was performed in full knowledge that it would fail to resolve the issue, and that diagnostics - the first step that should have been taken - would later be performed.
Worst experience, wouldn’t recommend at all. Was charged for something I never gave the go ahead to (replacement of shockers). I was given a quote for the job, to which I said I would hold off for a month. I was then told that was not possible as apparently they had already taken them out, so I could either go ahead with it or they would be charging me $120 to put the old ones back in.
Feeling intimidated, I had my partner call. Robert completely changed the story along with claiming I had given them the green light to start the job. Furious, I went to pick up my car and let him know that I did not appreciate his dishonesty nor him lying to my partner. His response again was a lie to me, claiming he said nothing of the sort. (Accompanied with arrogance and the blank stare mention in one of the previous reviews.)
Way too many lies…A $600 bill for old shock absorbers, a minor service and change of break pads (which have been screeching ever since) Never again.
