Melbourne Central Lion Hotel

I experienced something that I've never had before in regarding to customer service in ANY bar/restaurant. Waiters are VERY RUDE. Bartenders seem very bothered with enquiries. We were sitting down having drinks and food . Seems like they have a grudge towards us. We were having a good time with our friends, my partner and I, and waiters had to ruined it. The way waiters talked to us was disrespectful and they seem like they don't care. Tone of voice was ignorant and quite aggressive. Seems racist. I couldn't believe this sort of things happening in this venue. We WILL NOT be coming back and definitely will not recommend this place to anyone we know. Save your money. Avoid at all costs. Waste of time and effort.

Wasn't blown away by the service, food, or drinks, but the place is great to host mixers like the Fluent Fast language exchange where you can go to practice a new language as long as you're willing to help someone else learn yours!

Whether it be for a quiet drink or an eventful Friday night, you'll enjoy coming to Lion's. I've been here on a few occasions, most of which were on a Friday night where they'll have a live band playing for about 3 hours. The venue gets really crowded but the atmosphere is fantastic to embrace. With every visit, there doesn't seem to be much trouble with other patrons. There are 2 pool tables towards the back that leads into the TAB where you can place bets on horse racing or you can sit by the bar and catch a football game. Only downfall, is if you're a smoker or have anyone in your party that is one, there is no area to go and have a puff. You'll have to go all the way downstairs and exit Melbourne Central before lighting one up. Which can be bothersome to some people that i know. The observed dress code so far is neat casual as most places in the city are these days.

I like this bar cause they're not that strict. You don't need a collar shirt to get in. They mostly always welcoming, there's happy hour and the kitchen opens pretty late too. A very big pub with lots to do, including pool, arcade games, sports television, and plenty of sitting room. There's also a stage where they occasionally have a band. Always a good atmosphere with lots of people just out to have a good time. I recommend this place if you're after a good night.
