It offers a vision of where increasingly casual food and wine eateries are headed. With padded stools and small tables, or a stand-up bar, there is no concession to long lunches or large-scale dinners here. The entrees are designed as low-cost, tiny and delicious entertainment to go with a glass of wine, and there's a lively wine selection here with an Italian bias. The pizzas, on the other hand, offer a good single meal for less than $20 and come in rich variety. Each pizza has a singular appearance and taste, and is dressed with everything from olive oil to parmesan and gorgonzola, as well as mozzarella, and its much fresher and more appetising sibling, fior di latte. The oven is electric, not wood-fired, and the pizza bases appear to be from formula doughs, but the chefs are simpatico.

In a precinct of high class restaurants and Cafe's in fashionable Hyde Park. The Melt Pizzeria, Tapas, Wine and Desserts Restaurant, have set the standard. For an on the go generation of professionals, who know their food, this is the place, constantly popular. The comprehensive bar selection and comfortable bar stools, makes drinks-only another option. Great vibe and ambience. The anchovies tapas were splendid and their most popular prawn pizza was divine, (recommended) From the moment we walked in, the service was very welcoming, friendly and professional. Bookings would be well advised, especially weekends.
My favourite restaurant in Adelaide...possibly. The atmosphere is too cute, and always hosting a vibrant set of guests. It's almost booked out every setting, but if they offer you a seat at the bar - embrace it. It's quite cute for a date actually.
In a nutshell, they have tapas and pizzas. The kitchen is on show for all, so you can see the pizzas coming in and out of the oven and the herbs going on last.
The tapas menu changes, not a lot but sometimes. They will bring it to you on a tall chalkboard and can cause 'discussions' with your guests as you try to agree on which delicious dish to order. My favourites: the hommus with ground lamb and pinenuts (served with warm pita), haloumi is to-die-for, and the gnocci with gorgonzola - I'm generally pretty devastated if any of these have been subbed for another ...read more
This is a favourite of mine. Whilst the pizzas are great we are always drawn back for the everchanging tapas menu. Very good wine list which wont cost a fortune. We were in a group this time so opted for the "shared table" which was a good choice in that a good range of dishes appeared although the dessert pizza was a let down after the rest of the meal. There are two sittings 6.30pm and 8.30pm. Be warned that if you attend the 6.30pm table you will be moved on at 8.30pm on the dot.
