Memory Study
How can we improve memory in a normal day or night? How can we improve memory in a normal day or night?
Healthy males and females aged between 18 and 45 years, who have no known memory impairment are invited to participate in a study which investigates how the activities of a normal day and night can improve memory.
The study aims to investigate conditions which can improve memory and learning during a regular day and night. This will lead to a better understanding of memory function and what we can do to promote ability to learn, process information and aid memory loss.
This research will add to current knowledge of memory and provide further insight into advantageous relationships of memory with particular daily and nightly processes. It will also provide evidence on theories of how to improve memory function which can, in the future, benefit both healthy individuals as well as those with impaired memory function.
Your participation in this study is completely voluntary and the information collected during assessment will be held in the strictest confidence. Your participation will involve undertaking a brief intelligence test and some memory tests in the morning or in the evening (for approximately 45 minutes) and then some other similar tests 12 hours later (for approximately 30 minutes). In the 12 hour interval between tests you will be asked to go about your normal day with no changes except for a very simple hourly log of activities undertaken that day or night.
Participation is expected to involve 90-95 minutes of your time. The information gathered will be viewed only by the researchers. The information will be used in a way that ensures anonymity and will be safely locked away to ensure privacy.
You are free to withdraw or refuse participation at any time without penalty or consequence.
