It's such a great location and has both indoor and outdoor seating. It's really cosy inside and the coffees we ordered here were great. We came here after some shopping just to unwind and watch the city and streets bustling by. They have great sweet cakes to accompany the coffees and a nice lively atmosphere!
I have lived in Sydney for many years now and oftentimes I go past Metro St James, but it was only last weekend that I finally had the chance to visit this place for a late afternoon tea on a Sunday afternoon.
The place boasts nice outdoor tables with calming, courtyard style atmosphere with literally Hyde Park as the backyard.
Menu wise, there food and drink offering is pretty limited, but it includes pizza, some hot beverages, and wine too. As a group, we ordered hot chocolate, coffee, orange juice, and some wine and they were of acceptable quality and came quite quickly (perhaps because there were hardly any people when we were there).
You would have to order at the counter and have your order delivered to your table. The staffs were quite prompt, and also quite polite for not requesting us to leave even when they were about to close (although they did give a hint when they started to chain the outdoor furnitures).
came here for lunch on a sunny day. managed to get a seat outside. when you are eating in the cafe you have to order up at the counter and then take a seat. I waited almost 20 mins to order. the food was way over priced. They had run out of half the menu. I don't think I will be coming back.
Waiting in line at the door two couples left before us frustrated with the attitude of the wait staff, we were next in line, waited and waited, we just followed a wait staff as they passed without looking at us and then wait staff showed us to one of the many vacant seats. One of the wait staff snapped at me when I asked where the toilets were, the sign was obscured from where I was standing, the food was just scrambled egg and bacon thrown on a plate. Rude waiters and average food !
