How bad can it get?! Once again, decided to give this place another go. It appears to be under new management/ownership, as the previous owners are never to be seen. This cafe used to be a buzzing coffee stop in the mornings, but I rarely see more than a few people in there when passing the place.
After a 20 minute wait for coffee, with only two other tables occupied, the coffee was unbelievably bad. Tepid, incredibly bitter with no crema at all. Made by a girl who has worked there for a long time. This is the absolutely final visit. A lost opportunity in a busy centre.
Michel's was revamped some time ago, and has improved greatly. However, the service can be patchy, and two of the younger girls make terrible coffee! On the whole, the coffee is top notch, with great flavour and strength; with a beautiful mousse-like crema, but when two of the staff make the coffee, as was the case today, it is shocking. My coffee today was an overflowing (saturated napkin and full saucer) of weak, watery liquid with a tiny spot of thin froth floating on top. Owners PLEASE train your staff properly, as I know several people who now don't frequent your bakery/caf, for this reason.
Further to my comment above, this establishment has just undergone a great reno, and is now a café as well as a bakery. The reno is stylish and attractive. The breakfast this am ...and the coffee....was beautiful. Congrats and keep up the good work!
