Milano Gelateria
Multi Award Winner - RNA Champion Ice Cream or Gelato 2009 and 2010Milano Gelateria has been described by some as the best gelato in the world. For some, it is a must pit stop while visiting Caloundra, for others it is the reason that they visit Caloundra, period.
All our gelato is home made using all natural ingredients; we have a variety of flavours including; pistachio, hazelnut, ginger, nutella and mint to name a few. Come in taste what all the fuss is about. Now open also in Brisbane's Stones Corner.
For such a small, unassuming, gelateria on the main street of Caloundra you'd be surprised at the reputation Milano has. Some have proclaimed it the best gelato in the world. That's a pretty big call but, if not the best, we're willing to say the gelato at Milano definitely tastes better than most. Home made and all natural they serve all the flavours you'd expect plus a few you probably wouldn't. The service is friendly. Just the treat to cool down after a long day soaking up the sunshine and relaxing at the ...read more

What have you done? You have changed the rectangle 1 litres to a kidney sort of shape without a liner between the foam/sytrofoam and product. We recently ordered strattactelli 1 lt containersand no matter what we did.....we got foam in our icecream. One guest seriously nearly choked. Two other guests said "forget it......as every spoonful had icecream in it". We tried scooping it rock hard, we tried is totally defrosted (we still managed to scoop foam into the product). Please go back to having a liner, and a foam free product and we will be able to eat your amazing ice cream again. Did you not try these containers prior to putting them on the market? They do not work unless the icecream is very, very soft - almost melting; even then we still got foam in the product We must point out that since you have ...read more
Hi David, it’s the first time we receive any complaint about this packaging. The most likely reason for the gelati to be hard is a matter of a colder storing temperature. By not using premixes, but fresh raw ingredients, our product can be more sensitive than others. To soften it, it’s enough to keep the sealed container in the fridge or at a room temperature for 15 to 30 minutes and serve the gelati using blunt round tools, as sharp ones would break the polyfoam. We make our gelati in the same way as we did for the last 15 years, trying to maintain the highest quality. That’s why after having many problems with refrigerated couriers, we are now delivering ourselves. We are always happy to get in touch with our clients; if anybody wants to talk to us it is normal practice for our staff to pass us their contact details. Alternatively for any need, our email address is available on our fliers or on internet. Be assured that we are always driven by the best intentions. Take care
We visited Caloundra on the way to Mooloolabah and decided to try Milano -- "Multi Award Winner" grabbed our attention, as surely it is meant to. It may have won awards years ago, but I doubt it would now. The gelato is average, the servers were very snobbish with an attitude that does not make you want to go back. Not noticing the sign that they do not offer tastes, I asked to try the one flavor. Well...the server promptly pointed out that they do not do this, but...she'll make an exception and let me taste it, at which point she handed me a miniscule sample. I laughed and said what was the point, if I didn't like it what then?? Frankly, don't waste your money, unless there are no other gelato places in Caloundra and you are desparate. We spent the next three days in Mooloolabah, and what a difference -- most places said 'ABSOLUTELY YES!! WE LET YOU TRY BEFORE YOU BUY!! And for $5.80, why ever not!! I suspect the owners of Milano have had too good ...read more
We live in Dicky Beach and have travelled the world. The icecream in Venice and Rome is not as good as Milanos in Caloundra. There are some flavours not to our liking (as you would expect) but others we absolutely llllooooovvvvvvveeeee. We always pre-order vanilla and mint choc chip as this is our favourite. It is expensive and you don't get copious amounts (which my waist line prefers) but worth every cent - better to have extreme quality than extreme quantity. At any rate, We always get Milanos cakes for birthdays and special occasions. It is hard over tourist season as they are busy but if we pre-order we never miss out. The position of Milanos isn't perfect but thats not why you go there and really taking a stroll down bulcock street whilst eating your ice cream isn't exactly punishment. David, Felicity and Michael
PS There coconut and their mint icecream are also favourites
I visited this Gelateria after dinner with family. This small shop has a few seats inside and outside, and is clean and modern in style. Parking is available outside and depending on what time and day you visit you may pay for this.
There is a small range of sorbets and ice creams and no free tastings like other ice cream shops. The banana sorbet wasnt my taste, but I really loved the single scoop panna cotta caramel ice cream in a waffle cone for $4.50. As mentioned by the description above, they have won quite a few awards, which is proudly shown in their window.
My only issue is the service. Not very welcoming. Did not appreciate being asked to go to the register several times to pay while I was still trying to browse and work out what I wanted.
