Miss Maud

I've been coming here for years and rarely been disappointed BUT today is different. First I ordered the chicken and avo toasted bagel but had to change it to the pulled beef as there was no chicken left and my mum ordered the scrambled eggs with ciobatta bread none of that left. I paid $14.50 for a horrible bagel that was microwaved NOT toasted (as advertised) and my mums eggs were horrible.

Although the staff are friendly, the food was absolutely awful and a long wait. Overpriced and never again absolutely terrible!!!

Have been to the Carousel Miss Maud Cafe twice recently. The coffee and cakes are nice. On both occassions the sevice is poor and slow. The cafe was not busy plently of a staff giving more attention to fiddling around at the back of the counter than serving customers. The barrister spent more time talking to other staff while customers were waiting for their drinks. When the drinks were made they sat on the counter for some time as waitresses passed and looked at them without deliving them to the the waiting customers eventually delivery them. Will not go back again will now keep going to our regular coffee outlet 20m further down the mall.

Miss Mauds is a small but very busy caf serving all the Miss Maud traditional favourites likes open sandwiches, pastries and cakes. My all-time favourite is the Tuna Melt. Miss Mauds has daily morning and afternoon specials offering a Muffin or cake of the day with a hot beverage which is good value. The venue is noisy and busy and the service can be a little slow, but the food is lovely and it is a pleasant caf to catch up for a cheap and cheerful coffee. Take-away cakes and breads are available, and towards the end of the day the sandwiches and hotties are reduced. I highly recommend the pies which are flavoursome and generously filled.

I am visiting Perth on holiday and today my friend took me to this shop to have a coffee and cake. I chose my cake and then got a nasty surprise when I ordered my tea and cake because what I thought would cost me $8.95 turned into $10.95 when I queried this the staff told me that if I was eating it in store it had a surcharge of $2 on it ! I was so annoyed I told them I would only have the tea and if my friend had not already ordered I would have walked out. I asked the waitress when she brought me the tea to check that I got it right and she confirmed it and said each item would have the 2 dollar surcharge added so if you ordered a sandwich and a cake it would add $4 to your account etc. I looked as I left and sure enough there was a small notice at the top of each cake bay saying there was a second charge but it did not say what the surcharge was or standout. Good little restaurant, with nice coffee (most of the time), food and cakes. Has changed so that you must order before you sit down now, which is not such a bad thing although don't know that it's much faster than before as it is now claimed to be. Here comes the bad part though, don't think I have come across so many sour faces as I have on the Miss Mauds waitstaff at this place. I know they probably want to be somewhere else but Please! What a good thing I like the food......
