Modka Cafe Station Arcade

Modka Café is a Station Arcade institution - it has been around for a long time. The coffee is decent and the food is decent café food. A good option if you're in the area.

We'll start from the good, the staff are incredibly friendly and I got my food relatively quickly based on the time that I ordered it (around lunch time). Now onto the bad, I ordered a chicken schnitzel with chips, the chicken was quite bland but at least, the portion size was enough for someone my size but I would have liked there to have been more chips even though they are pretty standard chips. Overall the meal was what you would expect from a low quality pub, nothing special but also not awful.

I've walked past many times and haven't been for a long while. Thought I'd try it out. I asked what size the warm chicken salad would be. She showed me this large tray. I thought "cool". Nice size. No questions re: what salad I would like. 20 minutes later, I get this very small "salad" with some fried chicken on it. The chicken was flavourless, the salad was ridiculously small and the vinegar was not at all welcome. I will not be returning. I should have returned it.

I used to walk past this place everyday on my way to work but never thought of actually stopping in to have some breakfast, despite the offer of a big breakfast at a decent price. In fact it is only recently that I have the desire to eat breakfast at some random cafe, so when I returned to Adelaide that was what I decided to do, have some breakfast. First of all it actually wasn't all that bad, and they made my tea the way I liked it (with a tea bag), and they were also very prompt in bringing it out to me. The price was really good, but then it is Adelaide. I must also complement the staff as well since they were really friendly. Also, they will serve breakfast all day, so if you do have a desire for some bacon and eggs for dinner, then you can stop by here (though they will probably be closed at that time).

Meals were being prepared without gloves & after cashiers were handling money. Poor hygiene standards. The staff making coffee was also wiping his nose on his hands.
