It was a quiet mid week dinner and 6 of us. the place was pretty empty but we were crammed round a small round table. We even had to put our wine and water bottles on the floor once the mains arrived.
As a restaurant that purports to bring "authentic Mexican dishes and laidback service, as well [a] festive Aztec atmosphere" you are way off the mark......
The fajitas were dry and lack lustre and while the skillet was hot, it was not all glistening and sizzling as it should be....
The service was difficult and slow ...
The atmosphere was far from festive...
..and by the way, a "traditional" margarita is made with FRESH lime juice, not some kind of synthetic lemon concoction.
This place needs a refresh... The restaurant was pretty empty when we came here, the restaurant is dark and is full of dusty, old mexican themed decorations. The food was pretty bland and the staff couldn't see us when were signalled for service as the restaurant is long with the booth seating away from the main area of the restaurant. Mexican has become very popular on the Sydney foodie scene and unfortunately this place doesn't cut it.
I don't often eat Mexican food, but I loved the large range of options on the menu. There's various portion sizes to suit everyone. The food was very tasty as well.
The decor of the place creates a great Mexican feel, and if it's your birthday the staff will definately make you feel special!
While the staff seem friendly, when our waitress was taking orders from our group of 12 recently, she stood at the end of the table and expected us to shout what we wanted rather than coming around to us. I think she eventually got the hint (due to the noise of the place and her inability to hear!) and went around to the people at the other end of the table.
Parking is conveniently located opposite in the undercover carpark, however if it is full you have to wait until another car leaves before you can enter. Obviously this isn't Montezuma's fault though!
