Service was terrible. Not enough staff and then when we did get served, the staff walked away to serve another table half way through placing our order. Then to top it off, they spilt our drinks all over the table. We weren't offered any compensation (i.e. a free drink) and the food was so bland. Won't be going back.
Tried Montezuma Friday night - terrible service and pretty average food. The waiting staff seem to ignore you and if your want to refill your glass, best go and search someone out in the kitchen. No surprise there are very few diner's in the restaurant... Won't be going back any time soon.
One thing I can say about Montezuma's is you won't be going home hungry. The meals are of reasonable quality and the portions are always generous. The menu is deceptively complex (many slight variations on the basic beans/cheese/rice/meat themes) and the service is slow. Once they notice you, and your order goes in, the food is served promptly and piping hot. The place also strangely resembles the set of Play School or Romper Room with its brightly laquered furniture and candy colours.
The Montezumas at Hawthorn is the best of the three Montezumas restaurants in Adelaide. The service is fast and the staff are lovely. The restaurant is well maintained and looks fantasic. But the best part is the food. There is something for everyone and it is always delicious. There are many different vegetarian dishes available. I recommend this restaurant to everyone.
We had dinner at Montezumas last night and have been before. The food is good - you do have to go to the bar to order your drinks and line up in the process which isn't much fun. But the reason I've given this restaurant a low review is not the food (as I mentioned - food was good, and the environment is not bad (noisy) - it is the service. The service was terrible - we had to beg to have our order taken and were rewarded with very frosty attention (what little there was) from thereafter. So because of the complete lack of service, I'll be visiting Mecixo somewhere else in Adelaide next time.
