I have been going to Montis for the past 14 years and up till a month or so ago they were the best Fish & Chips on the coast...NOT ANYMORE . They now rank as the worst Fish & Chips I have ever had. Just to be fair I have tried 3 times in the last 2 months hoping things would improve, but no luck. My last ever visit was yesterday and they are still really bad.
Our much anticipated take away was unwrapped and was SO greasy that we were put off Straight away! There was no liner and the grease was seeping through the box...our appetite quickly disappeared..the calamari was tasteless and tough. We will not buy seafood from Montis again ..boo!
The food was expensive, extremely oily and basically disgusting. The chips and scallops were soggy. The fish was really oily. The service was basic, not friendly. They had a very large bowl of fish sitting on a bench partially covered by a dishcloth waiting to be crumbed? These people are obviously trading on past reputation. I will never go there again.
