Moroccan Soup Bar
Those that argue the argue that "soup isn't a meal" need not be scared off by the Moroccan Soup Bars deceptive name, or the fact that it is vegetarian - there is something here for everyone as the packed room and queue out the door will testify. Owner Hanna Assifiri is one of Melbourne's dining scenes true characters, explaining to each and every customer in her inimitable style what tonight's specials are - and they truly are special.
Chickpea bakes, lentil curries, or perhaps couscous steamed in a real tagine. The superb flavours are only superseded by the delicious aromas.

If it wasn't for the suggestion of a friend of mine I simply would never have even thought of coming here, so I am actually quite glad that she not only arranged it, but I also managed to go and check it out. Basically it serves vegetarian Moroccan food, which is quite out of the ordinary because these days you simply seem to only have a standard collection of restaurants, and every food court, or shopping strip you encounter has these restaurants, though maybe in a different order. However, but only is the food great, but it is also quite different in style, and certainly worth the adventure. They also offer a banquet style meal which means you can actually try a variety of dishes as opposed to simply having to make a choice and then being stuck with only one.
Came here with my sister while i was visiting Melbourne. Were very lucky to get straight in on a very busy night. Had the buffet. I have been a Vegetarian for over 20 years and have never tasted food so wonderful. A complete explosion of flavours in your mouth with every bite. The chickpea curry was the best meal i have ever had in my life. Staff were great although we had to get there attention as they were busy serving food and drinks to others that came in long after us. That was dissapointing. But apart from that was a awesome experience. Will be back.
Came here on a Tuesday night and the wait was 40 mins. Customer service was great when we sat down although at times we had to get their attention. We ordered the special banquet and soup on the side. Very filling and heavy vegetarian food. Between the two of us, we didn't even finish half. Overall, very flavoursome and generous portion size.
Used to be a fan. The food has been good. Over many years the popularity has changed the place. You can't book a table (CRAZY) which means you take the chance of getting turned away, it doesn't feel great after driving out there to be rejected. PEANUT ALLERGY warning! I asked the staff & they couldn't tell me which dishes contained nuts or nut oils so it's impossible to eat anything here if you have an allergy of this sort.
The hype has died for me. I wish it catered for allergies & booked like normal restaurants. Outdated.
