Mount Tamborine Coffee Plantation

Being a coffee lover, I had every man and his dog telling me about the Mount Tamborine Coffee Plantation, so eventually I got chance to get up the mountain and try it for myself. I must have timed it perfectly as the owner 'Kees' was in the coffee shop. We got talking about his process and he offered to take me around the plantation itself which is located directly behind the shop. He showed me the beans on the trees and then took me into his workshop to show me the drying and roasting process as he does it all organically on the premises. I was very impressed. We both went back to the shop again and he had a coffee with me to his favourite taste, and what a coffee it was! So smooth and rich without any nasty after taste. The man lives and breathes coffee and it is reflected in his coffee. I have since been a regular and buy his 1KG bags for my own coffee machine at home. I can highly recommend this coffee to anyone who really appreciates coffee and isn't more interested in the seating!

We had been meaning to head up the mountain and visit the plantation for a coffee that we had heard so much about. We were a bit disappointed with the atmosphere of the house that has been converted into a cafe. The steel seating was inappropriate inside and didn't help us feel at ease within the venue.
The service was good however the coffee was drying, the latte' didn't have enough froth and had a strange oily aftertaste.
We won't be buying coffee from there and won't visit again, even though we would like to support a local small business.
